Elusive 1787 Fugio Cent Newman 18-H.1 Variety Rarity-6 1787 Fugio Cent. Pointed Rays / UNITED STATES. Newman 18-H.1. Choice Very Fine. 134.8 grns. Rarity-6. This much rarer, Newman 18-H.1 Fugio Cent variety is missing in most collections. This example has a very pleasing, natural and evenly circulated appearance. It is perfectly centered on both sides. The chestnut-brown color is attractive having one small deeper tone area at the far left bottom edge of the sundial base. This coin enjoys excellent clear details for the grade and a full, strong 1787 date is present, with excellent detail shown on the Suns face and rays. The surfaces and planchet are smooth and above average, having some minor typical surface striations on both sides. The reverse side details and legends are very clear. The rims are smooth and near perfect, having no bumps or bruises. This coin is fully original . We have seen other examples of this variety sell for in excess of $2,700 in significantly less quality. This is a very collectable, attractive coin of this highly elusive Fugio Cent variety. Check around and this penny is selling for 1900.00 to 2700.00 and they are just a nice as this coin. |
