Cinqwue Ports for building ships
Cinque in French stand for five and there were five ports in all of England to construct their War ships.
Located along the southern coast of England, the initial ports were Dover, Sandwich, Romney, Hythe and Hastings.
As time went by, the number of cinque ports expanded to over thirty which would have included just about every south eastern coastal ship building village.
All of the cinque ports have a variation of the reverse crest on them. three lions forefront and three halves of ships They were finally expanded to 30
cinque ports but continued to call them cinque ports. Deal is located in Kent and they were included in the cinque ports.
